My employer just let go 1/3 of our workforce today, which amounts to 7 employees, some of which were good friends. I am grateful and fortunate that I still have my job. They will also be discontinuing our national retail brand and line of products, for which I have spent thousands of hours working over the past 3 years. Our work will now return to focus on our original business – promotional products.
Even though it seems that something like this should be expected with everything that is happening in the economy and world today, it is still quite a shock when it hits so close to home.
Be prepared and count your many blessings, name them one by one.
Glad you dodged that bullet, Bryce.
I second Dave’s comment. I fear there will be a hail of such bullets coming in the next several months though.
Sorry to hear that, Bryce. Glad your family will be ok. Lets hope your former coworkers can make it through with minimal suffering.
Ah, this one hits home for me too. You are blessed. My husband’s company did a 25% reduction in May and he was one of the “lucky contestants” invited to leave. He did get a nice severance which helped for a couple of months. Still no permanent employment as of today, only temp jobs. It’s a tough time for our country. But, I can now bear personal testimony of the great miracle and beauty of the Bishop’s Storehouse. Even in trial and hard times, there is so much to be thankful for. We still live in the wealthiest country in the world.
